Your Time is Now: Start Taking Action

Table of Contents

Are you tired of being stuck — dray dreaming all day long about how great it would be if you had “X, Y, Z”?

Have you ever given serious thought as to why you haven’t achieved what you want in life?

Most people tend to believe the reason why they aren’t where they want to be in life is because of everything around them.

However, the truth is that the only thing stopping you from achieving all of your dreams is YOU.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re poor, fat, ugly, broke, ect. The only thing that can stop you from accomplishing your wildest dreams if yourself.

You can study all you want and listen to all the self-help books you can get your hands on but if you don’t get out of your own way, it’s all for naught.

There is no 'secret' or magic recipe that's going to get you from where you are, to where you want to be.Click To Tweet

Believe it or not, the only thing that will get you moving in the right direction is to take action.

Yep! it’s as simple as that.

How can you expect to drink your morning coffee without turning the coffee maker on? Trust me, it won’t make the coffee by itself.

And that’s it right there… how can you expect to walk a mile if you don’t take that first step?

Taking the first step

taking your first step

No matter where you come from we all have certain things in common.

  • Born naked
  • Have 24 hours to work with each a day
  • Have an expiration date (death)

The most valuable form of currency that we have is time and it just so happens that we have the same amount as everyone else to work with each day.

Our “expiration” date might be different, but what we do with the time that we do have on this earth is what counts.

What would you differently if you knew your expiration date?

Would you go all-out trying to live life to the fullest, or would you stay on the couch dreaming about the day you die?

I bet most would try to run through their bucket list and have no regrets on their last day.

So why do we allow ourselves to sit still, dreaming about what we want without ever taking action knowing full well that our time on this earth is soon to pass?

Forget about whatever is holding you back and start taking the steps necessary to reach your dreams.

Bill Gates didn’t become the richest man in the world by sitting at home thinking about the benefits of building a user friendly operating system for computers.

No, he did so by taking action. He wrote code day and night until he could go in front of businesses to show the capabilities of his software.

How can you expect to become a blogger without first learning how to start a blog?

Reasons to take your first step

Are you still afraid of taking that first step to making your dreams come true?

I completely understand as I have been there and sometimes it can feel as if nothing we do gets us closer to living life the way we want to.

That being said you must know that not taking action towards realizing your dreams will assure that you live a miserable life full of regrets.

Sure, you will have your moments of joy, but in the end you will look back and think — what if?

What could your life had been like if you became the person you wanted to be?

That’s the biggest and only reason that truly matters on why you should start taking steps towards becoming the person you want to be.

I can sit here and tell you that it’s about building wealth, being healthy, or being in a long-term relationship, but its not.

Taking action is all about those things, but in the end the real reason you want to take action is so that when you look back on your life you don’t have to think about the “what ifs.”

Back in high school I remember having a crush on a girl named Mindy.

In my eyes she was perfect and even though I always contemplated on the many ways that I would ask here out I never built up the courge to take that first step.

No joke, about twelve years later I saw her pop-up on my facebook page and sent her a quick message just saying hello and how she was doing.

Mind you by this time I was in a great relationship and she hadn’t crossed my mind in years, but not building up the courage to ask her out was certainly one of my greatest regrets.

Believe it or not, the first thing she said in her reply was “I can’t believe this, I used to have the biggest crush on you back in high school.”

In that moment I wanted to go back in time and fix that, but I couldn’t. And that’s why we must get out of our own way and start working towards becoming the person we want to be RIGHT NOW.

Tomorrow we will have another 24 hours to work with, but we will also be 24 hours closer to our death bed.

There is no point in waiting to take action. The longer you wait, the more you will miserably wonder what if.

How to take action

time to take action

This is the hardest point to figure out because not everyones first step is the same.

However, you know what you want from life so you already know what your first step is.

Some things I always recommend doing is reading books by people that are already doing the things you want to do.

Go to seminars and speak with people you admire that have similar goals.

Do online research on how to become the person you want to be.

In other words, if you want to become a cowboy, live in a 50 acre ranch, and run a herd of 100 cows don’t come here to learn about that.

Come here for inspiration and to figure out what’s holding you back, but you need to study people like Joel Salatin to learn how to run a sucessful farm.

The key here is to not get too caught up studying. You must start taking action towards you goals.

In this instance you can study up on how Joel Salatin runs his farm while at the same time buying your first cow… I mean you can’t expect to reach your dream of having 100 cows, if you don’t buy your first one.

Avoiding a life of regret

I cant stress this enough… the worst thing in life is reaching old age without having lived a life worth living.

Sometimes I volunteer at local home shelters and I always make it a point to speak with as many people as possible.

I do it becasue I love hearing about people’s lives and how they got to where they are.

It amazes me how many people hate themselves for not going after the things they wanted.

While on the other hand I find inspirion when I see a homeless person who is actually happy with what they’ve accomplished because they went after their dreams and have no regrets about where they are at the moment.

No, nobody wants to be homeless, but i’ve learned from speaking with many happy homeless people that if going after your dreams lands you there, its worth it.

Because at the end of the day, the only person that suffers for you is you. The only opinion of yourself that matters is your own.

If you reach old age full of regrets, nobody is going to relive your life for you so start living it the way you want to RIGHT NOW.

Conclusion:

If you could do anything with your life what would it be?

Write those things down on a piece of paper and figure out what’s stopping you.

Trust me, after writing down the million reasons why you can’t live your life the way you want to, you will realize that the only thing stopping you is yourself.

And the only person that can fix that is YOU.

I can give you a wealth of advice on the things you could be doing to live a better life, but it all boils down to one thing.

Taking Action!

No more dreaming… start taking action and enjoy the results as they slowly start appearing.
